I love these definitions of the word create. ‘….not made by ordinary process………..from one’s own thought or imagination’. It gives such a mystical feeling to the whole act of creation yet, in its simplicity, it is a basic part of nature, of life, of everyday living.

I often hear people say that they are not creative because they don’t paint or make things but everyone is creative, everyone is creating their own reality whether they realise it or not. Right from the time you open your eyes in the morning, you create the mood for the day. Each time you interact with others you co-create an experience. Each time you have a thought, you have an opportunity to create positive change.

Daily practices like meditation, taking time to write daily gratitude lists, journaling, create positive vibes. Each time I write my gratitude list I create a grateful, loving feeling for my day, making me more mindful of who or what enriches my life.It only takes 5 minutes to sit still and connect with your inner self, your intuition, your spirit.

One of my biggest ongoing challenge is to create time in my schedule for me. I find that if I take these little snippets of time to do something creative it actually makes me more creative. It takes away any doubt that I can be creative in small amounts of time. It takes away the excuse that I don’t have the time to create. I just have to put aside the way in which I think being creative looks.

Art is my form of creative expression. It says a lot about who I am and it comes in many forms. I work in multi-media, pen, ink and pencil. I paint large scale canvases,  doodle,  draw mandalas and art journal. Each time I sit down I have the intention to create a piece that ties in with where I am in my world at that time. But you don’t have to be a visual artist to express yourself creatively. Take some time to sit and think of the ways that you create that become an expression of who you are.  Don’t limit yourself to the mainstream ideas of what a creative person is. Start recognising your creativity daily and nurture it, expand it; make it part of your daily routine.
